Tribute to Cailin Mitchell
It is with profound sadness that we learn of the passing of Cailin Mitchell, the much-loved caretaker of Clifden Community School.
Cailin was a valued colleague, trusted friend, and constant source of support to students, staff, management, and the wider school community. Warm, good-humoured, and kind, he had a rare gift for getting on with everyone. With a keen interest in music and sport, he connected easily with people of all ages.
There seemed to be nothing Cailin could not turn his hand to. From everyday maintenance to unexpected emergencies, he approached every task with dedication, skill, and a willingness to help. His commitment to the school was evident in everything he did.
He was especially cherished by the students. Cailin never judged; instead, he listened, encouraged, and accepted people as they were. With patience, common sense, and often a touch of humour, he guided young people back on track while preserving their dignity and self-respect.
Staff and management knew they could always rely on him for practical help, sound advice, and friendly support. His loyalty to Clifden Community School was unwavering, and his kindness and generosity helped make the school a better place for all.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Cailin’s wife and family, Theresa, Adrian, Guislaine, Ava and Saoirse, and his mother Annie.
Cailin's legacy will live on in the many lives he touched and in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
