Well done to the U19 Boys Soccer Team who defeated Glenamaddy CS on the 26th September in the Connacht Schools Cup. The game was played with great intensity throughout with both teams playing an attractive brand of football. Clifden took an early lead with Theo Joyce, Byron Lydon and Darragh Kennedy key to their early dominence.
Glenamaddy proved to be difficult opponents and scored some find goals but the experience of Kevin Holmes, Andrew Nee, Lewis Dickinson and Darren Molloy proved decisive and ensured Clifden remained in control throughout. Eoin Mahon was deservedly awarded Man of the Match and Sean Black looked very comfortable as the last line of defence. Clifden play Kinvara next in Round 2 and then a home tie with Yeats College Galway in Round 3. The team can look forward with confidence to these games over the coming weeks.
