First-Year EAL Students Explore Irish and Ukrainian Legends
This year, our first-year EAL students at Clifden Community School explored Irish legends as part of the Junior Certificate School Programme (JCSP). Inspired by Miss Keating and supported by Miss Kobylnyk, students compared Irish stories with traditional Ukrainian legends, discovering shared themes like bravery and the power of nature.
Some students also visited the Cartoon Saloon studio in Kilkenny, thanks to a trip organised by Forum Connemara. There, they saw how Irish legends are brought to life through animation.
The project helped students connect with both Irish culture and their own heritage while building language skills through storytelling and discussion.
