Clifden Community school hosted their very first Interschools Showjumping Competition at Ower Equestrian Centre in Oughterard on Sunday 8th of March1
The Interschools campaign this year was one of the strongest with 2 Teams turned out at each competition, as well as more individual younger rider categories. The students were turned out for 3 shows, November 16th, Feb 22nd and March 8th.
Teams were mixed between Aoife Nee, Clodagh OToole, Erin O Neill, Aoibheann Joyce Keris Mae O Toole, Lily Mae Flaherty , Cadhla Curran and Mollie Faherty. Alannah Joyce was a consistent winner in the individuals.
Edel Nee, Siobhan Mullen, Sinead Mannion were amazing support throughout the competitions offering help allround. Past pupils Rachel Malone, Cliona Gay, Sadhbh O Toole were there to offer support and advice to the riders as well as teachers Ms Tara Lally and Ms Ciara Nee, both very experienced equestrians.
We are so grateful to parents and pony owners who were out early on Sunday mornings transporting the ponies.
A fundraiser in October midterm, organissd by parents Caroline Joyce and Mary Madden Nee and supported by Supervalu with a hamper raffle, raised funds to pay for annual memberships of EII and Team Entries for the shows.
We have another fund raiser coming up on Spring Weekend at the CPBS Show field with a Pre Loved Sale of Equestrian Clothing and other Horsey Bits
All funds raised will help pay for Clifden CS gilets and embroidered saddle pads, as well as covering the costs of our recent show. We are delighted to have Connemara Horse and Country on board to sponsor prizes for our show.
We hope to see you all at the St Patrick's Day Parade in Clifden at 1230pm.
While we will say goodbye to our LC riders this year Clodagh O Toole and Aoife Nee, we have super group of young riders coming up through the ranks. Clodagh and Aoife have represented CCS Interschools throughout their time in the school. I have no doubt they will be back to support the riders in the next season.
Well done everyone
