State Examinations 2017

Best wishes to our Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate students in their respective examinations. The last examination is on June 23rd 2017.

TY Trip

Last minute preparations and final arrangements are happening in relation to the annual TY trip which is taking place from March 8th to 10th. Students will visit Croke Park, Newgrange, Hill of Tara, NUI Maynooth as well as other visits and team-building activities. A very busy few days are promised!

Club Francais!

  Clifden CS French Club is up and running. This term, activities are specifically aimed at Leaving Cert students to improve oral skills but students from all years are welcome. The club is facilitated by Klem and a French teacher is also present. More details from French teachers.

Clifden CS School Business Partnership with Mazars

On Wednesday February 8th fifth year students headed to Mazars in Galway where thier interview skills were put to the test! Mazars has been supporting our students in acquiring presentation skills and becoming acquainted with the intracies and realities of business in the real world. The group is looking forward to the ‘wrap-up’ session in a few weeks, when Mazars will visit the school and assist at a presentation by the students, summing up their impressions of this very worthwhile partnership. Gael Linn Debate

Well done to our Senior Debating Team and their mentor/coach Ms Ni Chormaic. Orla Sealy Phelan, Brendan O Seoighe, and Cailim Higgins represented Clifden CS eloquently at the Western Finals of the competition on February 7th last. The team spoke in favour of the motion ‘ 2016 was an Annus Horribilus’. This is the second year that Clifden CS has taken part in this competition – maybe next year it will be ‘third time lucky’!!!

Juvenile Boys Gaelic Football

Our U-15’s competed in the juvenile boys Galway championship. They played three games in total Colaiste Cholmcille Inverin, Coláiste Chroí Mhuire Spiddal, Merlin College Galway. They recorded two great wins in the competition, beating Spiddal and Inverin. They reached the final playing a strong talented Merlin College, despite a great team performance and some very good individual displays we lost out on a score line of 5-7 to 3-4.
