Welcome to Clifden Community School Parents Association - Powerpoint Presentation

The Board of Management of Clifden Community School acknowledges the primary responsibility of parents for the education of their children. It seeks to promote a positive partnership with parents.

The school administration and staff welcome parental involvement in their child’s education. This policy will be implemented by

  • An induction evening(s) for parents of new students
  • Ongoing consultation with parents as issues arise
  • Term reports including parental and student feedback
  • Parent/teacher meetings
  • Regular newsletters
  • Welcoming parents to the school as outlined in the handbook for parents and students
  • Inviting parents to share life skills with students e.g. advice on careers, social and other skills etc.
  • Promoting an active Parents’ Association
  • Social events

Parents/guardians are asked to support the school through

  • Encouraging daily attendance and punctuality
  • Ensuring that their son/daughter complies with this code of behaviour and discipline
  • Reading or discussing the code of behaviour and school processes with their son/daughter
  • Encouraging co-operation with school personnel
  • Fostering positive attitudes about school
  • Becoming involved in their child’s school life
  • Monitoring homework
  • Creating and supporting proper study habits, and facilities for their children
  • Understanding that school is a priority during a student’s school life
  • Communicating with school personnel

There will be parent/teacher meetings in the course of the school year, usually in the first and second term. Notification of meetings and functions will normally be sent to parents by way of letters handed to students in advance of such meetings or functions.

The school has had an active Parents’ Association. The Association is open to all parents of students in the school. It shall promote the interests of the students in the school in co-operation with the Board, Principal, teachers and students of the school.
