Connacht Cup Schools Soccer First Year Result:
Clifden CS (3) v Sancta Maria College, Louisburgh (3)
Well done to the First Year Boys soccer team who put in a fine performance recently to earn a well-deserved point against a very competitive Louisburgh team in Letterfrack. Clifden went in front early on with a fine goal by Connal Hennessy following excellent work from Ronan Mannion and Ben McDonald. Louisburgh equalised shortly after half time but Clifden went in front again following good work from Sean Conneely and Jake Bann. Louisburgh leveled again following good work from their best player Kevin Kitterick. Clifden showed tremendous grit and determination to edge in front from a superb strike from John Davis. But Louisburgh were not to be denied and scored in the final seconds to snatch a draw and ensure both teams got to share the points.
Clifden will play Foxford and Balla over the coming weeks and can look forward to these fixtures against these Mayo schools with great optimism.
