The Junior Certificate School Programme is a national programme sponsored by the Department of Education and Skills and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment. Students have been working on subject statements and have been involved in many initiatives. Both the students and their teachers work hard to make this programme a success in the school.
Third Year JCSP students were presented with their ‘Final Profile Awards’ at a presentation ceremony attended by Ms Sweeney Year Head, Ms Walsh HSCL and Ms Keating Programme coordinator.
The ‘Final Profile’ is a document which outlines the academic achievements of the students in the form of subject statements which they have been successful in achieving. The profile also contains a Certificate of Participation from the Department of Education and Skills, along with an individual school reference.
Ms Sweeney commended the students referring to their many achievements and the importance of education. Ms Walsh congratulated students on their successes despite the challenges met along the way. Ms Keating stressed the importance of and the benefits of reading. Students shared hopes and dreams for the future and the celebration was rounded off with light refreshments.
Second Year JCSP students were presented with a book voucher each on awards day. Present were Ms Garvey Year Head, Donna, Ms Walsh, Ms Heaney and Ms Keating as well as classmates of the students.
First Year JCSP students were presented with a book connected to their interests or a book voucher.
JCSP initiatives continued throughout the year despite the lockdown and restrictions. Literacy, numeracy and wellbeing activities were run in the school by various subject departments and were enjoyed by students involved.
