NUIG Research

TYs participate in NUIG research for improving access to adolescent mental health care services
09-December-19
NUIG Research

At the end of November, the TY students had the opportunity to participate in a research study involving brainstorming and workshops with Ms Ann Colleran who is attached to the Psychology Department in NUIG. As part of her Clinical Psychologist Doctoral thesis Ann is writing a paper entitled: Who Asked You? The study explores young people’s views and ideas regarding access to adolescent mental health care services.

The object is to get young people to identify ways to make first level mental health supports accessible.

The results of this study will be part of Ann’s thesis which she will be submitting as part of her training as a Doctor in Clinical Psychology. Parts of the anonymised data in the study may be used within materials developed for conferences, publications and teaching.

It was a very worthwhile experience and the students who participated benefited greatly.

We wish Ann all our best wishes in the future.
