As the school year is coming to an end, Transition Year students were asked to give feedback on their experiences learning Psychology this year in Clifden Community School. As this was the first roll out of the new TY subject, students contribution and feedback has played a vital part in the planning and implementation of the subject.
Students' feedback (36 students in total) was overwhelmingly positive with 92% of students stating that they enjoyed taking part in Psychology this past year 2018/2019 and a further 85% said that they would recommend this subject to the upcoming Transition Year students.
In terms of taking the subject on board, 49% said that they would be interested in pursuing Psychology in the future in some form with many additional comments requesting more information in relation to college courses and career prospects under the Psychology umbrella.
All of the students' surveyed feedback has been taken on board and will shape planning of topics and teaching strategies going forward into next year 2019/2020.
On a final note, I would like to sincerely thank all Transition Year students for participating this year and showing a real interest in the subject. The initiative and maturity adapted by these students throughout the variety topics such as Philosophy of Psychology, Behaviourist Psychology, Sex and Gender, Memory and Modern Psychology, for example, was impeccable and imperative for the success of the course.
I would also like to thank both Ms. Kelly and Ms. Keating for taking the subject on board as part of the Transition Year programme.
Looking forward to next year's endeavours,
Ms Mernagh
