The Road Safety Roadshow proved to be very informative and raised awareness among students in relation to road safety. The objective of the webinar is to encourage young drivers, and those about to commence their driving career to adopt responsible attitudes in terms of their own driving behaviour.
During the webinar students saw presentations made by An Garda Síochana, The Ambulance Service, The Fire Service, a consultant based within A&E Department in Mayo University Hospital as well as a car crash survivor. The final speaker was a very brave family member of a deceased road traffic accident victim.
Students agree that, while at times challenging, it was a very worthwhile event, which will hopefully leave a lasting positive impression on the young people who participated.
What our students said:
“The information was straight up and honest, showing what tragedy cars and their drivers can cause”
“Some of the subjects tackled were challenging. The personal stories were difficult to listen to but helped me to understand the impact of dangerous driving.”
