Dear Parents/Guardians,
This letter is to let you know some important information in relation to dates and costs associated with the Transition Year Programme. The curriculum includes a core of familiar subject areas and provides for new areas of experience through the incorporation of a range of additional learning modules as outlined in recent presentations. A calendar (subject to change) is included. We are, as always, very aware of the National Health guidelines in relation to Covid19. Hopefully, continuing guidelines will have minimum impact on our TY programme. In any event, our TY core curriculum, with its strong focus on learning outcomes, will remain intact.
The cost of additional planned activities which are listed below is €150. Ideally, we expect all students to participate in as many of these as possible as this creates the maximum opportunities for learning. Please contact the TY co-ordinator or Principal if there are any circumstances that prevent your child from participating in these programmes. While we try to plan and budget for all activities in TY from the beginning of the year, occasionally we get invitations to participate in some very worthwhile activities based on how projects/student interests develop during the year.
Lastly, the Work Experience dates are:
(1) Mon 18th – Fri 22nd October
(2) Mon 4th – Fri 18th February
(3) Mon 30th May – Fri 3rd June
To avail of the benefits of the Work Experience module it is important that students begin to plan their preferred options as soon as possible.
Looking forward to a productive and enjoyable Transition Year.
Yours sincerely,
Mary Kelly, Principal
Mary Keating, TY Co-ordinator
