U19 Boys Connacht Shield Final
St. Brendans Belmullet 0
Clifden CS 4
This was always going to be a tough affair with St. Brendans displaying great form in the group stages of the Cup winning our group early in the year and defeating us 4-2.
We got off to a slow start in our early group stages but found form coming into the Shield knockout section.
Our performances in the knockout stages represented the hard work and commitment the team put in to our preparations.
It's was a credit to our young squad with 12 of the 17 players being available for next year and 9 of our starting 11 being U18's or younger.
In our last 3 games including yesterday we conceded 0 and scored 20, this showed a great balance to the team both offensively and defensively.
The team would like to show appreciation to all the support we received at the match and on our return to school, I would like to express my appreciation for the efforts individually and collectively of this group of player's that have come from strength to strength after success in last years u17s Shield Final and also for the support of our local club Westcoast United.
We go again in 2023 / 2024. ⚽️🏆
