Some photos from talks that were held for 6th year students at Clifden Community School to help ease the transition from school to the next stage of freedom. We started by listening to Dr John Casey share information on mental health wellness and how we can look after ourselves in spite of all the distractions and temptations around us today. It was so much easier for my generation and Dr John. No phones, no social media. Dr Johns advice to the boys and girls was to stay connected with family, to talk and share how they feel. Get help if needed.
Past pupils Shona Acton Sports Physiologist and Becky Sweeney Dietician with the HSE both gave wonderful insights into the importance of good diets, sleep, exercise and how to stay well. The girls have recently left school and connected so well with the group. We really appreciate the visit and the talks.
Dr Sorcha O'Toole GRETB spoke to the Year of the wonderful opportunities available locally in further education. It was great to have questions answered first hand. Many students will be looking into a level 5/6 at Letterfrack and Clifden as they now clearly see the progression that can be made from further education.
The students really appreciated the information and knowledge shared by all the speakers.
We wish them well as they prepare to fly the Coop.
