TY students from Clifden Community School pictured at Errislannan Manor Riding Centre during the Equitation, Stable Management and Horse Care Course 2019. Students are very grateful to their tutor Ms Roisin Pryce (BHS Accredited Professional Coach) who designed and facilitated the course and Ms Jacqueline Boulger from Thereputic Riding who was always on hand with her advice, skill and encouragement.
Students were also encouraged by junior tutors Eva Habermann and Shannon Mulkerrin who have equestrian experience and they were happy to share their own practical knowledge with their classmates.
The course aims to promote the sport of horse riding, develop and encourage a high standard of care and husbandry and introduce inexperienced students to the world of equestrianism. This syllabus offers the opportunity for skills development, physical challenges and literacy and numeracy in a different environment. The partnership approach between pony and student offers a unique learning environment which has proven very successful. Students also focused on identifying a variety of local flora and fauna, planting a range of indigenous trees and organising a shore and beach clean-up.
We are very lucky to be able to avail of such a fabulous resource on our doorstep. A huge Thank You also to Ms Sharon Ni Cheannabhain SCP.
